Corruption of Arcana Weekly Devlog 4


I'm back knights, after a much needed refresh I am jumping back into the realm and working with AS to help bring features to life and allow all of you to interact with them. But all that is a devlog for another day, whilst I've been gone the team has been hard at work pumping out work ready for you to play in just a couple weeks. But without any further delay, lets jump into all of the new bits and bobs coming in the next update for Corruption of Arcana:


Game Updates

Quest System

We have created a quest system, which can keep track of all the player's progress as they journey through the game. Quest markers will now appear at important objectives, which means that you can now tell where you need to go without having to pay attention to the dialogue.

 Quest Marker

Quest system now properly tracks quest progress and shows markers on the compass, a current total of 4 quests have been added which consist of:

  • 2 Main Quests: The Initiation and The Corrupted Golem
  • 2 Side Quests: The Final Trial and Harbouring a Grudge


World Updates

Most of our characters are interact-able in some way, these NPCs now have their corresponding 2D artwork inside of the main game, these include:

  • Mamma Rheinfeld
  • Lt Hiérophante
  • Wondering Fortune Teller
  • Arcana Knights in The Eastern Cave 

Thoth has undergone a spot of cleaning thanks to our 3D Artists, new structures can be seen around the town such as:

  • A little fishing dock
  • New Tents
  • A Tavern
  • More Houses of different sizes
  • A new Town Wall
  • New stone support walls


Combat Updates

Our artists have been hard at working making new enemy types and new backdrops to match the battles environments. Some of the new art is for enemies we are yet to implement, so for now you'll have to wait and see what new threats you will face as you explore. However one of the new backdrops is for the realm map combat scenarios, if you are unlucky enough to be attacked on your travels across the realm you may notice this new backdrop so keep an eye out.

New card art has also been made, during combat players will notice 3 different variations of card art:

  • A skull
  • A Sword
  • A Crystal

These cards come in a variation of colours to help each card have more individuality and allow players to recognize their favorite card amongst their hand.


Dialogue Update

A dialogue rework and intro is in the works, this change will span from the start of the game up to being sent off to meet Lt Hiérophante. This may not be available for a few weeks but its on the way, so keep an eye out.


Playtest Update

We know many of you are excited to play the new game and test out all of our new features, which is why as a team we've been talking dates. So mark your calendars, dust off your helmets and sharpen your swords ready for:

We will publish the weekly devlog as normal but we will also be releasing the Demo for our game. The build we make active will be updated every Tuesday and will stay on our itch.io page permanently so you can enjoy our game as much as the Grand Wizard allows. 

Our website is now live! over the last couple weeks we have been expanding into social media and expanding our public image. So to help with this we are now happy to announce our WebsiteTwitter and TikTok. Also new to our team is a new logo and banner to help with our public image, you'll find both of these on any of our pages.
