Corruption of Arcana Weekly Devlog 13


It's the final devlog of the year (educational anyway) before we take a couple months break. Creating this game has been so much fun and exciting, we lost some members, gained new ones and next year the team is getting even bigger as we bring new members on board to help create the rest of Taro's adventure and the story of the Arcana Knights. 

With a new year comes a new set of ideas, over the next couple of months there may be some polls come out over on our community discord server with regards to certain aspects of levels and overall experience. We'd love to get you guys involved more with the game.

And with our 1st year of development coming to a close, we present to you, the updates and fixes coming in Corruption of Arcana version 0.11.1

New Features

  • New structures have been constructed around the knights camp in the East Forest Clearing to strengthen the knight's position. These new structures include:
    • Storage sheds
    • Boxes
    • Barrels
    • Palisades around the way into the forest
  • Players are now blocked by a knight and palisades until they speak to the fortune teller in the camp
    • This helps prevent players from getting to the cave and not being able to enter it
  • The Eastern Cave has been revamped slightly
    • The entrance has been lowered and is now at the same height as everything else
    • What looks like the rib cage of a giant beast can be seen in the ceiling
    • New stalactites can been seen hanging from the ceiling
    • Watch your head! - Rocks now fall from the ceiling, keep and eye out as if you get hit it will cause damage
    • 3 Arcana Knights have now made it to the cave, speak to them or rush straight in and defeat the golem
  • Some more keywords have been highlighted in the dialogue
    • These key words help to identify who is being spoken too, where you need to go and who you will need to speak to for quests


Replacements and Re-positions

  • The gates next to Mamma Rheinfeld in Thoth  have been replaced with a spiked wooden gate which opens when the player completes the 1st step in the 'Initiation' Quest
  • Replaced the old guide book with the new updated version in combat scenes
  • Replaced the font on the post combat screens (victory and defeat) with the correct font


Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue where a card would overhang the side of the screen in combat if the players hand was full
  • Fixed some spelling mistakes in the combat tutorial
  • Fixed an issue where the list of quests in the quest menu would start from the bottom and not the top when opening
  • Fixed an issue where players could walk on water in both Thoth The Eastern Cave
    • Players who attempt this will be teleported to a specific location in each area
    • A black screen, pop up or dialogue will come in a future update


This rounds up everything added and fixed over the last week, we hope you enjoy playing the game we've made over the past year.  We still have so much to create and show off to the world. There may be a small patch coming over the weekend if any small bugs crop up over the weekend but we doubt it.  Enjoy the couple of months with no updates, we sure will.
